A night out ended tragically for a new father; the country’s latest traffic fatality victim.

The incident happened just after midnight Sunday after two vehicles collided along West Bay Street near the Sandyport entrance.

The victim, who relatives have identified as 31-year-old Demeko Knowles, was a passenger in a Nissan Maxima that collided with a white BMW.

Police said the BMW was travelling west on West Bay Street and the Maxima east on Sandyport Beach and Resort Road when the incident occurred.

The drivers of both vehicles sustained injuries but are expected to be okay.

Distraught family members described Knowles as a loving and caring individual.

He had recently become the father of twins.

This latest incident has renewed appeals from police for motorists to exercise extreme caution and care.

Investigations are ongoing.
