The prosecution and the defense are set to present their closing submissions to the jury today in the trial of former Eight Mile Rock High School teacher Andre Birbal.

Birbal’s attorney Ramona Farquharshon-Seymour called her first and only witness to the stand on Friday, Dr. Heasting Johnson.

Dr. Johnson was the medical practitioner that did a number of tests on Birbal when he entered Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) in 2010.

On March 25, 2010 results showed that Birbal was HIV negative.

The former teacher is charged with unnatural sexual intercourse with a minor.

On Friday, Justice Roy Jones also gave Birbal the opportunity to remain silent or take the stand.

He chose to remain silent.
