The country’s latest murder victim has been identified as Neko Lloyd.
Lloyd was the sixth man to be killed in six days.
According to police shortly after midnight Sunday Lloyd was sitting on a bench at the rear of a female friend’s home located on Gibbs Corner off East Street, when a man armed with a handgun approached him and shot him multiple times to the stomach and chest.
The gunman then fled on foot.
Lloyd, a resident of Gibbs Corner, ran to the front of the house where he collapsed.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, police have yet to identify the man killed shortly before 9:00 p.m. Friday.
A man was walking on Cordeaux Avenue when two men armed with a handgun shot him in the head and fled on foot.
The Bahama Journal understands the shooting took place near Hanna’s Plumbing on Cordeaux Avenue and Palm Beach Street.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The country’s murder count now stands at 37 for the year, two more than the number recorded at this time last year.
