Officials from One Family Junkanoo group are excited over coming out third in during the BTC Boxing Day Parade.
The parade is scheduled for December 26 beginning at midnight.
On Saturday, scores of group representatives and supporters gathered on Arawak Cay for the selection drawing for both Junkanoo parades.
One Family will come out third under the theme, “Hurricane A’ Coming.”
“Based on what our theme is and based on where we see the lineups of the other groups we are very satisfied with our third pick,” One Family Leader, Darren Bastian told the Bahama Journal.
“Our presentation lends to that number so we know exactly what it is we have to do. Please look forward to an outstanding parade from One Family.”
Many One Family supporters told the Journal they feel the group was snubbed of victory in both the 2012 New Year’s Day and 2011 Boxing Day Junkanoo parades but they say this season will be “one for the ages.”
The 2012 Boxing Day lineup will start with the Saxons Superstars coming out first, followed by the Music Makers, then One Family, Roots, Prodigal Sons and finally the Valley Boys.
The Saxons’ theme is “A Royal Celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee”; Music Makers chose “Wow, A Bahamian Experience”; Roots with “A Night of Elegance: The Queen’s Masquerade Ball”; Prodigal Sons with “Seminole Migration to Red Bay, Andros”; Valley Boys with “A Celebration of Queen Elizabeth II”.
The Boxing Day Parade will begin at midnight on December 26.
The Saxons are the reigning 2011 Boxing Day Junkanoo parade champions.
One Family came in second followed by Roots, the Valley Boys, Prodigal Sons and Music Makers.
On New Year’s Day, the Valley Boys will come out first, followed by Roots, the Saxon Superstars, One Family, Prodigal Sons and finally the Music Makers.
The Valley Boys are the reigning 2012 New Year’s Day Junkanoo parade champions.
The New Year’s Day parade is expected to begin at 2:00 a.m. on January 1st.
