Another motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident on Sunday, the third male to lose
his life in such a tragic way and the fourth to die as a result of motorcycle collisions in
a week.
Police launched active investigations into the 46 th fatality for the year, according to
The Journal’s records, when a 24-year-old male died in Nassau Village not too far
from his home on Sunday afternoon. Police did not release the identity of the victim;
however, sources identified him as Jesptha Ferguson Jr.
The victim, according to police, was operating his Yamaha 250cc trail motorcycle on
Alexandria Boulevard when he collided with a gold Nissan Bluebird, driven by a
woman.
When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene, they found that
Ferguson had sustained serious injuries. EMS provided medical assistance however,
the victim succumbed on scene. Police said at present the cause of the collision is
unknown.
On October 19, shortly after midnight, a male believed to be in his mid-20s was killed
when the Yamaha motorcycle he was operating collided with a Mack truck at the
junction of Carmichael and Golden Isles Roads. Police said he was pinned under the
truck. He received serious injuries and died on the scene.
Prior to that incident, on October 16, 27-year-old Deandre Stephen Woodside and 37-
year-old Rhashan Rolle, both of Nassau Village were killed while also on a
motorcycle.
The victims lost their lives on East Street South, in the area of Calvary Deliverance
Church, after a 2007 Mitsubishi car attempting to overtake another vehicle collided
into a black Yamaha XTV occupied by three persons.
Another female on the motorcycle and the male driver of the Mitsubishi were taken to
hospital by EMS.

David Lockhart has repeatedly urged motorcyclists to ride with caution and care and
to ensure when traveling at night headlights are on and that they wear highly visible
clothes and wear a helmet.
