A man was shot at an Abaco motel early yesterday morning and later died at a local government clinic, police have confirmed.
Police said the victim, who has not yet been identified, got into an argument with a group of men around 4:00 a.m. at a Sandy Point motel.
Someone in the group later opened fire on the victim.
The man was later taken to a local clinic in a private car.
However, he died at 10:00 a.m. at the Sandy Point Government Clinic.
This is the country’s 80th homicide for the year.
On August 15, the country’s 79th homicide victim, 29-year-old Forluke Dupree, was shot and killed in the Sunlight Village area.
Dupree was riding a motorbike in the area off East Street when a gunman approached him and shot him multiple times about the body.
He died on the scene.
Police are asking anyone with information into this latest homicide to contact them at the nearest police station.
Club Stabbing
A Grand Bahama man is in critical condition after being stabbed at a club on East Sunrise Highway early yesterday morning.
Authorities said the incident happened at 3:00 a.m.
According to reports, the victim got into an altercation with several other people and was later stabbed several times about the body.
He was then taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital in a private car.
Meantime, a man was arrested yesterday morning in the Holmes Rock area for possession of an unlicenced firearm, wantonly discharging a firearm in public, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
Two people were arrested in reference to causing damage, 10 people were searched in reference to dangerous drugs, firearms and on an arrest warrant.
Vehicles were also checked for dangerous drugs, firearms and warrants of arrest.
Man Arrested For Alleged Copper Theft
Grand Bahama Mobile Division officers arrested a man on Friday for possession of a large amount of copper wire.
The officers were patrolling the Queens Highway area when they spotted the man. Officers said he could not say where got the copper and as a result was arrested.
Police are now questioning the suspect in reference to the recent copper theft at the Broadcasting Cooperation of The Bahamas (BCB) transmitter site.
