Woman Dies After Stabbing

Police now have a murder investigation on their hands and the prime suspect is one of their own.

The 39-year-old mother who was stabbed multiple times Wednesday night succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

A police press statement sent out after 2:00 p.m. Friday confirmed that her death marks another murder for the country, the 96th so far this year.

Reports are that Stubbs’ 16-year-old son, a student at the Akephran International School, who was also stabbed Wednesday evening in that incident, remains in hospital clinging to life in serious condition.

The woman’s police officer husband is still in custody being questioned in connection with the matter.

The Journal understands that the officer is attached to the Royal Bahamas Police Force’s Internal Securities Division and has 24 years experience under his belt.

It has also been reported that the police officer has been remanded to the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre for evaluation.

On the scene Wednesday night police were dusting a silver Toyota Sienta for clues that was parked in bushes on a vacant lot.

Its rear was facing the street just off the main Sea Breeze Road.

Within minutes of news spreading of her death, Stubbs’ Facebook page lit up with condolences and rest in peace messages.

One Facebook friend wrote “RIP in the arms of the Lord, sad day.”

Another wrote, “RIP Freda, you are now showing that beautiful smile in heaven, you will be missed.”

“A smile that would light up a room, RIP mama,” another read…

Stubbs has listed on her Facebook page that she was a pharmacy manager at AML Foods Limited.

Officials said recently that although 1,200 cases of abuse against women are reported, they believe the number is much higher than that.

An estimated 500 to 600 children are also said to suffer abuse.

Investigations into this latest incident are ongoing.
