A man, who allegedly broke into a Penny Saving Bank Subdivision home yesterday, was shot by police.
The 18-year-old St. James Road, Shirley Street resident was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Police said the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m.
According to police reports, officers responded to a housebreaking on Reivax Drive, Penny
Saving Bank Subdivision where they were confronted by the suspect, who was allegedly armed with a knife.
The suspect is in police custody.
Monday’s incident is just the latest in a string of police shootings.
In fact, there have been six police shootings that have ended fatally, according to Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade.
Mr. Greenslade said yesterday that all of those cases have been investigated and sent to the Coroner’s Court.
With the exception of one case, all of the shooting victims were armed with handguns.
Cable Beach Man To Be Arraigned
A 43-year-old Hampshire Drive, Cable Beach man is expected to be arraigned in court today at 11:00 a.m. in regards to a hit-and-run incident.
Early Saturday morning 54-year-old Bruce Burrows of Fritz Lane was struck off his bicycle as he was riding on the Tonique Williams-Darling Highway near Workers House.
Police said the driver of a Ford Mustang hit him and left the scene.
