Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party Bradley Roberts confirmed on Tuesday that after nearly six years, the PLP will hold its set annual convention this year during the last week of October at the Meliá Resort.
He told reporters yesterday that despite the conventions inconsistency over the last few years, the delegated ‘annual’ convention will ‘definitely take place’.
At that convention, the party’s leadership will be disputed among other positions.
Last October, Mr. Roberts told The Bahama Journal that the convention would be held following a referendum on gender equality.
Earlier this year, he said the convention would take place after the $3.5 billion luxury resort Baha Mar officially opened.
Despite no dates being released for the opening of Baha Mar or the Gender Equality referendum, according to Mr. Roberts, the convention, spearheaded by Minister of Labor and National Insurance Shane Gibson, will not be postponed again this year.
Mr. Roberts did not wish to go into details, but he said the minister of labour will make further announcements regarding the convention on a later date.
