An airplane believed to be travelling from Pittstown, Crooked Island crashed 14 miles off New Providence yesterday.
According to police, the five persons on board were rescued and taken to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Base.
Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association (BASRA) Operations Manager Chris Lloyd told The Bahama Journal that he received a report from Air Traffic Control that a single engine Cessna believed to be travelling from Pittstown, Crooked Island crashed near New Providence.
Lloyd said the crash happened just before dark yesterday evening and the US Coast Guard, along with a helicopter, was called to provide assistance.
Members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force were also called to investigate the plane crash.
