Police are trying to determine what led to a plane’s crash landing in Staniel Cay, Exuma that left its passengers nursing wounds.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. Saturday when the nine-seater Cessna aircraft from Flamingo Air was attempting to land at Staniel Cay Airport.
Police say the pilot lost control of the aircraft and landed in nearby bushes.
As a result, the passengers were treated at the local clinic for minor injuries and were discharged, police said.
However, the aircraft received extensive damages.
Meanwhile, police were also investigating a shooting that left one man in hospital.
Reports are that around 11:00 p.m. Saturday, the victim was involved in an altercation with a man he knew.
The assailant shot the victim twice to the lower body before fleeing in a blue vehicle.
The victim was transported to hospital via EMS, where he is listed in stable condition.
In addition, police had their handful with an ongoing spate of armed robberies in the capital.
According to police, officials were dealing with two broad daylight robberies at the same time.
In the first incident, around noon Saturday a woman was sitting in her car at the corner of East and Quakoo Streets when a man with a handgun robbed her of cash and fled on foot.
In the second incident, which occurred just moments after the first, the victim was walking through Sunlight Cottage off East Street, when a man armed with a handgun approached him, robbed him of cash and fled on foot.
The suspect was described as a stout built black male wearing black clothing.
Investigations continue.
