Police have officially identified the young man shot and killed late Saturday night as 21-year-old Javonne Deveaux of Strachan’s Corner.

According to police reports, Deveaux, a man and a woman were walking through a tract road through Thompson Lane when the shooting occurred.

Police said they are questioning two men in connection with this incident.

Deveaux is murder victim 49 for the year.

Meantime, police say it will be a while longer before they find out the identities of murder victims 47 and 48 as investigators sort through their charred remains.

Police officers got a call Saturday evening about a bush fire through an unpaved road west of Bacardi Road, but when they got on the scene they found a Dodge vehicle on fire.

After extinguishing the blaze they spotted two people inside burnt beyond recognition.

Police said one appeared to be a man, the other a woman.

Sources said it could take up to a few days for them to positively identify the victims.
