Independence celebrations organisers reminded the public that events to commemorate the country’s 40th Anniversary of Independence continue through the remainder of the year as they announced two more events scheduled to take place this week yesterday.
“The Commission wishes to focus again on an event of an educational nature headed by our young people,” Co-Chair of the Independence Commission Charles Carter said yesterday during a press conference to announce the upcoming activities.
“To this end, the commission is pleased to endorse and support the special session of “Youth in Parliament” to be held on Friday, July 26 at 10:00 a.m.
“This event holds particular significance as we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Independence where the country is looking toward passing the baton on to a new generation of Bahamians. The goal is to involve young Bahamians in every aspect of our country’s development.”
In addition to the Youth in Parliament session, there will also be an “Encounter of the Bands” this Sunday at Rawson Square featuring a number of bands performing together.
Activities to mark the country’s 40th Independence started last November and will continue through November of this year.
