Police are investigating a shooting that has left a 25-year-old man in serious, but stable condition in hospital.
Police reports indicate that shortly after 10:00 p.m. Friday, the victim – a resident of Major Road, Yellow Elder Gardens – was standing in front of his home when the driver of a gold Honda Accord approached him and shot him in the upper body.
The vehicle then sped off, police said.
The victim was then taken to hospital.
Police Probe Armed Robberies
Police are investigating a string of armed robberies this past Friday beginning with the robbery of a man in the area of Texaco Service Station, Robinson Road.
Police said shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Friday, three armed men approached the victim and robbed him of jewelry and other personal items.
The suspects then fled on foot.
The second incident happened three hours later in the area of East and Deveaux Streets.
A male victim told police that two gunmen held him up after 9:00 p.m.
They then fled on foot.
The final incident occurred at the Real Deal Liquor Store at the corner of Baillou Hill Road and Soldier Road, shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
According to police reports, a gunman entered the liquor store and held the managers and patrons at bay. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police say the gunman then fled on foot.
Moments later, officers assigned to the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) Selective Enforcement team arrested a 19-year-old Nassau Village resident in connection with the last robbery.
