A 26-year-old Yellow Elder man was arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon for the April 5 stabbing death of a 31-year-old man.
Police believe Don Wallace is responsible for stabbing Mario Allen, who was previously identified as Mario Coakley, to death Saturday night through Eneas Street.
Wallace was arraigned on one count of manslaughter before Magistrate Andrew Forbes.
Allen, was stabbed after he and Wallace got into a fight while at a barbeque Saturday night in the Bain Town area.
However, sources that knew both men say they were at odds for a long time and it all escalated to that point.
At that scene, police had to restrain Allen’s visibly distraught mother who tried to dash by them on numerous occasions to see her son.
In the courtroom yesterday Wallace was not required to enter a plea to the charge and was remanded at Her Majesty’s Prisons (HMP) until May 23 when a Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI) will be served.
Residents of Eneas Street told The Bahama Journal that the location where the incident happened is known to be a “hangout” spot and is not an area known for violence.
They say on that day it just happened to be the location of that unfortunate incident.
