Homicide detectives were busy over the weekend and holiday as they had two homicides on their hands which pushed the murder count to 55 for the year.
In the latest incident, according to reports, shortly before 1:00 a.m. Sunday, a man was found through Wulff Road, west of Jerome Avenue with multiple times stab wounds to the body.
Police also found the body of a woman with dreadlocks unresponsive in waters at Montagu Beach Friday morning.
According to reports around 7:20 a.m. the female was found on the shoreline east of the Nassau Sailing Club, with multiple stab wounds to the upper body.
The Bahama Journal also understands that the woman’s throat was slashed.
Additionally, police are encouraging family members who may not have seen a relative overnight, to contact them.
Meanwhile, police on Grand Bahama are investigating the discovery of a body there.
According to reports, sometime around 6:10 p.m. Thursday, police received reports that the body of a black man was lying on the beachfront in the area of Bayshore Road, Hunters, Grand Bahama.
Officers and EMS personnel were dispatched to the area, where they found the lifeless body of the man lying on the beachfront.
The body was transported to Rand Memorial Hospital.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
Foul play is not suspected at this time.
Police on Grand Bahama also conducted an operation which resulted in a sizable seizure of dangerous drugs.
According to police reports, it was sometime around 2:46 p.m. Saturday that officers from the Grand Bahama Division executed a search warrant at a residence in the Freeport Area and discovered 70 pounds of suspected marijuana.
A male Jamaican national was taken into custody and is being quizzed in connection with this matter.
