Police have launched a search for five men who they want to question in connection with an abduction and armed robbery.
According to police reports, a 46-year-old Bacardi Road male resident was walking on Fire Trail road around 2:35 a.m. Saturday, when a group of men in a Honda vehicle approached him.
Police said the men forced the victim into the vehicle where they beat and robbed him.
The victim was then released by the culprits.
He was later taken to hospital via Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel where at last report he was detained in stable condition.
Police are investigating and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information regarding this incident to contact them.
Meantime, eight people were arrested and charged for various offences in Exuma.
Officers conducted operation “Even Tide” last Thursday and Friday and arrested seven men and one woman.
Three men, ages 41, 37 and 30 years were taken into custody after they were found in possession of a 32-ft. grey open hull boat with two Yamaha 350 H.P. outboard engines.
Officers from the George Town Police Harbour Patrol Unit were patrolling the Man-O-War Cay area when they arrested the men and confiscated the vessel.
The men were arraigned in the magistrates’ court in Exuma where they pleaded not guilty.
The judge granted each of the men $5,000 bail.
The matter was adjourned to September, 6.
