Nearly 50 undocumented Haitian migrants are likely to be added to the group already housed at the Carmichael Road Detention Centre.

Defence Force officials picked up the 46 illegal immigrants in George Town, Exuma on Sunday.

Acting on information, Defence Force patrol craft P-126 intercepted a Haitian sailing sloop in the southern Exuma Cays shortly after 4:30 p.m.

On board the wooden vessel were 38 males and eight female migrants.

The Haitian nationals were subsequently taken to Exuma, where they were processed.
