Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources V. Alfred Gray said yesterday that the proposed $8 million dollar revamp and redevelopment of Potter’s Cay Dock will be completed in six months to be completed.
The minister said while he feels the price tag is a bit much, the government maintains this is something that needs to be done and will be carried out one way or another.
“If it has to be $8 million I believe the government will not back away from its intentions to do what is necessary to bring Potter’s Cay Dock to a place where families should be entertained be fed and feel safe. We will have to do find the monies whatever it turns out eventually to be,’ he said.
“It’s at the foot of the bridge that leaves Paradise Island, so a good experience on Paradise Island and a bad experience at the end of the bridge is not a good combination.”
He says the government wants Bahamians to feel they are important enough for the government to make such a huge financial investment as this is a small price to pay for a developing country to move forward.
“We’re going to change the ambiance and change the experience so that families, not only men and women but men women and children will find a place of rest, relaxation, a place where the food is second to none and the visitors and Bahamians alike will find that it’s the place to be after five,” Mr. Gray said.
Should plans stay on course, the Potter’s Cay revamp project should be completed by January 2017.
