Grand Bahama police made a huge drug bust of marijuana on Friday.
Police said 3:55p.m. Friday, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on information went to the domestic terminal of the Grand Bahama International Airport.
While there, the officers checked a charter flight that had just landed from Bimini and on checking a passenger’s luggage they discovered a square plastic wrap package and two square black tapped packages each containing a quantity of suspected marijuana.
A further search was made of a brown box that contained two square plastic wrapped packages each containing suspected marijuana.
Two male suspects – ages 27 and 37 years – were arrested.
The estimated weight of suspected marijuana found is 20.5 pounds.
Both suspects are expected to be charged and arraigned before the Magistrate’s Court sometime this week.
Also from Grand Bahama, reports are that around 10:40 a.m. Saturday officers from the Mobile Division while conducting a road check on Queens Highway, searched a white 2011 Hyundai Elantra with a male driver and discovered 37 mini zip lock plastic bags of suspected cocaine.
The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old American citizen was arrested and taken into custody.
The estimated weight of the suspected cocaine is eight grams.
Meanwhile in New Providence, a 32-year-old man is in custody after DEU officers arrested him for possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply Friday.
According to reports, around 6:20 a.m. a team of DEU officers acting on information received executed a search warrant at a home located at Old Boat Alley.
During the search the officers uncovered four pounds of suspected marijuana with an estimated street value of $4,000.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Investigations into both matters continue.
