Police are investigating another apparent drowning here in the capital after a man died while diving for conch.
According to Central Detective Unit (CDU) Superintendent Paul Rolle it was after 9:00 a.m. when they were called to Potter’s Cay Dock.
The man is believed to be in his late 20’s or early 30’s.
Our news team spoke with distraught fisherman Chaco Feliz who said he retrieved the victim from the water.
“I was looking for him, then someone said, see him right there and I was the only one who went for him,” said Mr.Feliz.
We also spoke to another fisherman who said he talked to the victim minutes before he died.
He claimed the man was intoxicated and that he warned him not to go diving.
“I witnessed that a man went into the water and was unable to be successful with his adventure of retrieving conch from the water for market,” he said.
“Unfortunately, I spoke to him minutes before he went into the water and I advised him that he was too much influenced with alcohol to make another dive.”
Officials have ruled out foul play at this stage in the investigation and police were unable to reveal the identity of the victim up to press time.
