DNA releases 2017 Manifesto

The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) has announced the release of its “Vision 2017 and Beyond”, a 70-page document that specifically outlines a five year plan should the party assume office following the 2017 General Elections.

“This document covers all aspects of government and signifies revolutionary change in the way an administration should operate,” said party leader Branville McCartney.

“The Vision 2017 and Beyond outlines the finer points of our platform. Mainly good governance , the economy , national security, youth development, education and culture, energy and the environment, healthcare and social policy and Grand Bahama and the Family Islands. These are the areas of focus that will encompass change in this country,” he said.

Mr. McCartney specified that emphasis would be placed on solving the issue of crime, which he says is an economic problem.

“If people had more opportunities for work they would not be forced into petty crime.

“That’s why we’re proposing a $ 5 million economic stimulus and liberalizing our energy sector which will create more direct jobs but will also encourage economic growth creating thousands of residual jobs, ” he said.

Should the party not complete what its manifesto sets out to accomplish within the allotted five year governing term , Mr. McCartney said the party would  accept the reality that it has no place in governance.

“By releasing this document we are saying to the Bahamian people, hold us accountable. We will show you how we’re going to change this country. Unlike the PLP and the FNM who have released similar manifestos and failed to deliver,” he said.

“This is not just campaign talk, this is what we will accomplish, ” said the DNA leader.

With the dissolution of Parliament today, Mr. McCartney said he felt that yesterday was the perfect time to release the manifesto.

When asked to clarify more of what the DNA would implement in order to decrease crime, he invited persons to come out tonight to an open forum on the 2017 manifesto at the parties headquarters at 6:30pm.

The Free National Movement (FNM) published its manifesto back on February 6th,2017 on its website. It outlines the parties plans in 14 areas which include but are not limited to the economy , immigration, good governance, and education.
