Darville Says GB Economy On The Rise

Grand Bahama Minister and Pineridge Member of Parliament Dr. Michael Darville says the nation’s second city when compared to the past four years is stronger better and definitely headed into the right direction as the Christie administration has invested some $86.3 million dollars into the economy.

During his contribution towards the budget debate in assembly Monday morning Dr. Darville is extremely proud his ministry’s performance since his coming to into office.

“Today our nation faces economic challenges and it is important for us to do it now and we are doing it in this to protect generations ahead of us and to prevent our economy from being jeopardize,” he said

“For this reason this administration under the leadership of the right honorable member of Centreville since coming to office has tackled many challenges through fiscally sound measures which are yielding positive results.”

The Pineridge MP furthermore alluded to a number of projects already underway or completed that he said began as a result of direct responses to the pleas by residents on the island.

These projects include a new hospital, the establishment of a maritime academy, a museum of Grand Bahama, renovations of the Freeport Post Office and many more.

“As a result of our negotiations under the MOU we have made way for the new port in Grand Bahama,” Dr. Darville said.

“East End Police Station, opened, the northern service open immediately when we took office in 2012, water cay developments, completed, Opening of the arts and crafts center which was built under the Free National Movement but opened under this ministry, the establishment of the Hawksbill Creek Agreement and they say nothing is happening in Grand Bahama.”

The minister handed out a booklet in the House of Assembly that contained all of the projects entitled Grand Bahama Revitalization, also available to the public online.

Mr. Darville says the new Grand Bahama as he calls it is filled with hope and he is pleased to be a part of the revitalization process and fully supports the budget communication presented by his party.
