Local authorities along with the US Coast Guard found a Florida man’s body just off Bird Cay, North Eleuthera Saturday morning.
Police believe the remains belong to a 31-year-old tourist they had been searching for since Friday.
They believe he was pulled out to sea by strong currents.
According to reports, the Sonoma Court, Palm Beach Florida man was on a beach swimming along with family and friends Friday evening when he and three others were swept away by the current.
The three people were able to swim ashore. However, they could not locate the man. They finally did Saturday.
Meantime, a 48-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident at the intersection of Queens Highway and Church Street, Palmetto Point, Eleuthera.
According to police, the man, who was driving a blue 1995 Chevy Lumina, was headed north along Queen’s Highway when he collided into the driver of a GMC truck.
The victim died on the scene, and the other man was airlifted to New Providence where he is listed in serious condition.
In other news, a 31-year-old Bannerman Town man was arrested after he was found with a quantity of dangerous drugs.
Officers from the Eleuthera Division searched the suspect’s home and allegedly found a quantity of marijuana.
During that search they also found three marijuana plants.
