A 27-year-old Carifta gold medalist and Grand Bahama resident is the country’s latest homicide victim after a shooting at a local night club Saturday night.
The Bahama Journal understands the victim is 27-year-old Rimardo Rolle.
Rolle died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday at the Rand Memorial Hospital.
According to police, shortly before 2:00 a.m., police received information of a shooting incident at Legends night club on Queens Highway, Grand Bahama.
When officers responded, they met Rolle suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Two men – ages 26 and 21, both of Grand Bahama are assisting police with their investigation into this matter.
Condolences initially poured out on Rolle’s Facebook page with numerous people posting messages like “Pull through bro; the race ain’t over yet” and “I know you strong, you will make it.”
Those messages quickly turned to “Rest in Peace” messages following news of Rolle’s death.
Police are now appealing to the general public for anyone with information that can assist with their investigations to contact them at 350-3107/8, 911/919 or call your nearest police station.
Milton Street Murder
Meanwhile, a man also died from his injuries after being shot to the upper body Saturday night in New Providence.
Sources told the Bahama Journal he is 19-year-old James Farrington who also goes by the name “Sukie.”
According to reports, around 9:00 p.m., police received a report that a man was shot through Milton Street off East Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they met Farrington’s lifeless body with multiple gunshot wounds about the body.
Farrington was reportedly riding his bicycle through Milton Street when a man armed with a handgun opened fire on him fatally hitting him to the shoulder, side and head.
Farrington was pronounced dead at the scene.
