The multi-million dollar Baha Mar resort project is scheduled to open on December 8, however Senior Vice President of Government External Affairs Robert Sands admitted Tuesday “technical glitches” have forced the resort to delay any leisure room bookings.
Bookings were supposed to begin on July 1 but because of the issue, Mr. Sands this has not been able to happen.
In October of last year Mr. Sands announced that the resort would then begin group bookings.
Many Bahamians have questioned if the resort will in fact meet its deadline which is just five months away, due to the fact that major construction works are still ongoing and left to be done and the fact that just last month, one of Baha Mar’s main hotel partners terminated the deal and a new one signed on.
Amidst an ongoing legal battle, Baha Mar signed a new hotel management agreement with SLS Hotels after the management agreement originally signed with Morgans Hotel Group was terminated.
However despite these occurrences, Baha Mar’s Chief Marketing Officer Denise Godreau dispelled rumors of the grand opening being delayed earlier this year.
She said in April that the developer was on course to meet its construction completion.
