Police are investigating the apparent drowning of another American visitor.
According to reports, the 66-year-old New Yorker was found floating in waters off Cabbage Beach, Paradise Island shortly after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead by EMS personnel.
An autopsy will determine the victim’s exact cause of death.
Wednesday’s incident is just the latest in a string of apparent drownings in recent months.
Last week, an 87-year-old South Carolina man suffered the same fate while snorkeling with a female friend in waters off San Salvador in the vicinity of the Club Med Resort.
He was pronounced dead by a local doctor.
Less than a month earlier, Grand Bahama police responded to reports of a body floating in the canal in the West End area.

Police said the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Watlins Road area.
Reports are that a couple was in arguing when the male was stabbed to the upper body. The victim was rushed to hospital.
Police said his injuries are not serious.
Investigations are ongoing.
