Police have captured a man who they wanted to question in connection with that fatal shooting at Baller’s Nightclub last month.
According to Police Press Liaison Officer, Inspector Chrislyn Skippings, 34-year-old Julian Collie aka ‘Heads’ is in police custody.
“Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) accompanied by officers of Rapid Strike arrested Collie around 5:30 a.m. yesterday at a home on Jacaranda Street, Pinewood Gardens,” she said.
Two people died from that shooting back on May 29.
Sixteen-year-old Kevin McDonald died in hospital on June 5 from gunshot wounds he sustained as a result of the deadly shooting.
The first person to die was 21-year-old Cordero Findley. He died the same day of the shooting.
Immediately following the shooting, police issued an all-points bulletin for Collie as well as Stephen ‘Die’ Stubbs.
Stubbs was arrested two weeks ago.
“This shooting and other serious crimes are receiving the full and focused attention of the police,” Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade told the press last month.
“We have re-launched Rapid Strike and the team of officers, led by a senior officer, have been asked to arrest prolific offenders that continue to commit crimes in our community, to seek out and arrest people for outstanding warrants of arrests, to seek people believed to be in possession of illegal weapons and drugs and certainly any other person who is known to be committing criminal offenses in our community. Particular emphasis will also be placed on groups of men referred to as gangs and organised crime groups that continue to create problems.”
The police’s chief said the police cannot do the work they need to do without the public’s help and support.
“If you know of relatives and friends with drugs or guns ask them to remove them,” Mr. Greenslade said at the time.
No one has been charged with McDonald’s or Findley’s death.
Active police investigations continue into this matter.
