Homicide Victim Identified
The man killed this past weekend has been identified as Javena Ramonte McKenzie.
According to Assistant Superintendent, Edward Demeritte, the 27-year-old South Beach Estates resident was at a grill-out on a park near the former St. Bede’s Primary School Saturday evening when a young man wearing a hoodie approached him, pulled out a gun and opened fire.
Police said McKenzie was shot multiple times in the upper body.
At last report, police had not arrested anyone for the crime.
Police ID Female Found Dead
Police are meantime treating the discovery of the young woman, whose body was found through a corner near St. Augustine’s Monastery Sunday evening, as a sudden death.
Altarnika Young, 17, was reportedly wearing a shorts and blouse at the time of her death.
She had no visible injuries
Police suspect the Monastery Park resident had been dead for about five to six hours, as rigor mortis had already set in.
Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy report to determine the teen’s exact cause of death.
Investigations are ongoing in both matters.
