Twenty-eight-year-old Ashley Knowles, aka Nexus Seymour, stood before
Magistrate Kendra Kelly on Monday morning, charged with 12 counts of fraud.
According to prosecutors, Nexus Seymour, who also goes by the name Ashley
Knowles, was in possession of false documents, specifically a Bahamian voter’s
card and National Insurance Smartcard, both in the name Ashley Knowles.
It is alleged that on August 11, Seymour then obtained a FirstCaribbean
International Bank CIBC account using those forged documents.
Seymour, then on August 28 forged a CIBC cheque drawn on the account of Cg
Atlantic General Insurance made payable to her alias Ashley Knowles in the
amount of $3,200.
Nexus Seymour pleaded not guilty to all charges. She was granted $8,000 bail.
She was ordered to sign in at the East Street South Police Station every Wednesday
on or before 6 p.m. Failing to breach bail requirements will result in six months at
the Bahamas Department of Corrections.
The matter was adjourned until October 11 for trial.
