Former Fox Hill Member of Parliament (MP) and Senator Fred Mitchell is dissatisfied with the perception that the current Free National Movement (FNM) government is getting the credit for work initiated by the former Christie administration.

Mr. Mitchell was referring to improvements currently being made in his former constituency among others.

These improvements included the pilot project of free Wi-Fi zones at certain parks in the Fox Hill, Gambier Village and Bain and Grants Town communities.

These zones would allow area residents, especially school-aged children to access the internet.

Days ago, the government touted its success in implementing the programme.

However, not sitting well with Mr. Mitchell, in a written statement yesterday he said the notion that the FNM started this project “is false, as the record would reflect that the PLP announced this initiative on April 1, 2017.”

“My former constituents of Fox Hill have called me this morning angry because of an assertion by the now FNM government that they (the FNM) are responsible for Wi-Fi service on the Fox Hill Parade grounds and environs,” Mr. Mitchell claimed.

“A decision had been made by the last PLP Cabinet to upgrade the public environs of Fox Hill.”

Mr. Mitchell also reminded readers about his “final contributions as the Fox Hill MP.”

“The Fox Hill Community Centre was built. All the parks were upgraded. The Wi-Fi works have just now been completed for the parade grounds. The CCTV has also been installed and is connected to the Fox Hill police station,” he said.

“The truth is important.  The FNM should know that the truth will set them free.  I don’t expect them to give me credit.  They are too ungracious for that, but I do expect them to speak the truth.”
