Three men were arrested early Thursday morning after authorities found an estimated $2 million worth of marijuana on board their vessel just southwest of New Providence, police have said.
A team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), the Police Marine Support Unit assisted by US Drug Enforcement agents intercepted the 30 feet Midnight Express vessel around 2:00 a.m. Thursday.
The vessel was spotted some 30 miles southwest of New Providence.
The men ages 42, 39 and 38 were found on board and following a search of the vessel were arrested for possession of the large quantity of marijuana.
The three suspects were taken into custody and will appear in court at a later date to be formally charged.

A 23 – year-old man of Montel Heights will also soon be appearing before the courts to be formally charged after he was arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition Wednesday.
According to reports, shortly before 6:00 p.m., Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of a home located at Ethel Street in Montel Heights where they uncovered a shotgun along with a quantity of ammunition.
The suspect was taken into custody.
In a separate incident, shortly before 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence went to the rear of a house located at Ethel Street in Montel Heights, where they uncovered a quantity of ammunition.
No one was arrested for this incident.
