The Airport Gateway Project that was expected to be completed within the next two months has been seriously sabotaged.
It is alleged that on last Friday evening, a disgruntled worker or workers decided to take matters into their own hands using a caterpillar D8K to destroy a portion of the paved roadway.
The suspect started from the Baha Mar roundabout and travelled for a little over a mile and a half, ditching the tractor in bushes just off the highway and repairs are expected to total around $1 million dollars.
The project alone estimated a cost of about $72 million.
Journal reporters spoke with workers who all said they knew about the incident but had no idea who might have been responsible or how long it would take to repair the damage.
They were also unable to comment on when repair of the roadway would commence as nothing can be done since investigations are ongoing.
No officials were available to comment on the Airport Gateway project that had already projected a September completion because of an eight week setback.
There is no telling how long this process will set the project back.
