An early morning drive in Abaco, on Sunday, resulted in the death of an adult female, bringing the total number of traffic fatalities for the country to 23, according to The Journal records.
Police in the Northern Bahamas are investigating the circumstances surrounding a two car collision on Don McKay Boulevard that claimed the life of the female passenger while injuring the drivers of both vehicles.
Reports indicate that shortly after 1 a.m., police were called to a traffic accident on Don McKay Boulevard involving a Toyota Passo and a silver Jaguar.
Further investigation revealed that both vehicles were travelling on Don McKay Boulevard when a head on collision occurred.
Both vehicles received extensive damages and both drivers and passenger received injuries.
All persons were transported to the Marsh Harbour Health Center, where they were treated.
The driver of the Jaguar, according to police, was treated for non-life threatening injuries and later discharged.
The male driver of the Toyota Passo was also treated for non-life threatening injuries and was later airlifted to New Providence for further medical attention.
The female passenger of the Toyota Passo, unfortunately, later succumbed to her injuries.
Police have not revealed any identification of the victims.
