A 54-year old woman of Old Fort Bay is scheduled to be arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court, Nassau Street today and according to police she will be formally charged for the murder of her husband Phillip Vasyli.
Mr. Vasyli, a 59-year-old Australian podiatrist, was discovered dead at their Old Fort Bay home last Tuesday.
According to Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle, an employee discovered the body of a male in the dining area of his home early Tuesday morning.
Chief Supt. Rolle said the man had supposedly been dead for at least eight hours prior to persons discovering his body.
“Shortly after 8 a.m. police received reports of an alleged stabbing incident in the Old Fort Bay area of Western New Providence. Officers responded to this area where a Caucasian male was lying on the floor of one of the buildings on the property with stab wounds to the body. EMS also responded to the scene where they pronounced the male lifeless,” he said.
Chief Supt. Rolle said preliminary investigations suggest that Vasyli’s death may have resulted from an altercation that occurred last Monday.
