Weekend Accidents Leave Two Dead

Two separate weekend traffic accidents have left two people dead.

In the most recent incident, a male pedestrian was fatally struck on Saturday evening.

According to police, sometime around 9:00 p.m. the man was crossing the East Street South thoroughfare when the driver of a silver Honda vehicle struck him.

The victim died at the scene.

Early Saturday morning, a motorcyclist died after being involved in an accident.

That incident happened at 3:45 a.m.

The motorcyclist was travelling in the north bound lane on Sir Milo Butler Highway when he lost control and collided with the guard rail in the median of the highway.

The driver sustained massive trauma to the head and died at the scene.

Police investigations into both matters continue.

Meantime, police are also investigating another traffic accident that occurred early Saturday morning which left several people in serious condition.

Around 5:30 a.m. four females in a Suzuki vehicle were travelling west along Shirley Street when they collided with the female driver of a blue Avalon vehicle, which was heading north on Hawkins Hill.
 
All five women were injured.

Officers from the RBPF Fire Services had to extricate two of the victims from the car with the Jaws of Life.

All of the women were taken to hospital via EMS where three of them are detained in stable condition; two are in serious condition and the other is in critical condition.

Investigations continue.
