Another United States Embassy worker was robbed in the capital this past weekend.
Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy Neda Brown confirmed the robbery on Thursday.
In an emailed statement, Ms. Brown said the employee, whose name was withheld, and his family were visiting a beach in western New Providence on Saturday, July 27 when they were robbed by two unidentified males.
The statement added that no weapons were used and the family was unharmed.
According to Ms. Brown, the police are investigating the robbery and the Embassy continues to encourage their workers and all American citizens visiting or living in The Bahamas to be consistently cognizant of their surroundings at all times to avoid being a victim of crime.
It was just on June 9 that the Embassy’s Vice Consul 74-year-old Kathleen Cayer was attacked and robbed as she walked to the St Francis Xavier Cathedral on West Street that Sunday morning.
The U.S. Embassy suspended nonimmigrant visa services in The Bahamas the following day.
Cayer returned to church a week later. Meantime, two men were charged in the matter.
