Urban Renewal Heads Into Pinewood

Urban Renewal carried out yet another walk about in the Pinewood Constituency area yesterday.

Pinewood is known as a crime hot spot in New Providence.

Walking with them was Member of Parliament for Pinewood, Khaalis Rolle, Co-chairs of Urban Renewal Cynthia “Mother” Pratt and Algernon Allen and a contingency of police officials.

For the last several weeks, officials have been looking to make a positive impact on residents in hopes of reducing crime.

A former gang member who went by “A Forbes” had some very encouraging words, prompting those involved in illegal activity to walk the road with God.

“I used to be in a gang, you really don’t have to do wrong things to get somewhere in life,” he said.

“Love God and keep your mind on him every day and he will pull you out of whatever situation you’re in.”

Urban Renewal 2.0 is one of the Christie administration’s Safe Bahamas initiatives.

Director of Urban Renewal Stephen Dean said officials intend to carry out walkabouts in every constituency in New Providence.

Mr. Dean said Urban Renewal also intends on carrying out the walkabouts in a number of Family Islands.
