Uncanny Intuitive Ability—Secret to Success

By P.J. Malone

One of the secrets to fashion mogul Peter Nygard’s success is his uncanny intuitive sense that allows him to perceive things that others don’t see. He then makes his business decisions based on what he senses, and nine out of ten times he’s right, according to NYGÅRD company executives.

There are countless corporate stories of Peter Nygard being a visionary and seeing ahead of the curve on a number of issues that could have derailed the company.

The Huffington Post published an insightful article on the importance of intuition in business. Entitled, “The 7 Attributes of Intuitive Business Leaders, its author, Simone Wright, describes ‘intuition’ this way:

“The ability to be creative, think on the fly and make key business decisions with little time amidst the tsunami of external information is vital. Intuition is the natural intelligence that allows us to see ahead of the curve, to generate innovative ideas, to communicate powerfully and to do so without having to study spreadsheets or gather piles of data.”

The article lists these seven attributes of Intuitive Business Leaders:

  1. They take action-based on Vision. Intuitive leaders are said to not be motivated by external goals but instead are inspired by their inner vision, which allows them to cultivate an expanded awareness enabling them to see and apply solutions where others cannot.
  2. They set the trends—they don’t follow them. ‘Following the pack is simply not a part of their DNA.’
  3. They are able to let go of things that are no longer working or viable. Intuitive leaders are said not to spend much time focused on things that don’t move the vision forward.
  4. They allow others on their team to thrive, excel and contribute. Intuitive leaders are said to recognize that they are only a part of the whole.
  5. They thrive when others tell them ‘it can’t be done.’ Intuitive leaders are said to shine when there is a problem to be solved and excel when creating something that no one has considered before and may think impossible.
  6. They ask evolved questions. Intuitive leaders are described as always seeking ways to do things better.
  7. They are able to cultivate solutions and courses of action in multiple directions. These leaders are known to ‘move in multiple directions at the same time empowering innovation and influence’.

The above attributes are very representative of Peter Nygard. Nygard is described as always having visions for new products and new business practices. His trend-setting approach is demonstrated in his technological innovations and his fashion breakthroughs.

Having a strong reputation for allowing his team to ‘thrive, excel and contribute’ you can see how Nygard has shown this through the number of employees who have climbed the company ladder from the bottom and are valued executives many years later.

Also, an executive once explained that the minute you tell Peter Nygard that something cannot be done, he sets out to prove you wrong and he finds a way to get it done. Remember, he believes that nothing is impossible.

Peter Nygard’s uncanny intuitive ability has clearly made a world of difference in his multi-million-dollar business success.
