Two men were charged on Friday with the murder of a fisherman last week.
Twenty-two year old Hasten McQueen was charged with the death of 50-year-old Owen Hanna.
Hanna, a father of seven children, was gunned down early Wednesday morning after reportedly having an argument with McQueen.
The Sir Gerald Cash Estates resident – who appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez – was not required to enter a plea to the charge.
He was also denied bail.
Twenty-three-year-old Jovan Davis was also charged with abetment to murder and accessory to murder in relation to Hanna’s death.
He was also not required to enter a plea and denied bail.
The pair has been remanded to her majesty’s prisons until December 7.
At that time, prosecutors will present a voluntary bill of indictment to the court.
Last week, neighbours told the Bahama Journal they heard at least eight shots in the area around the time of Hanna’s death.
Superintendent Rolle could not confirm how many times the victim was shot.
He said, however, that the victim was shot in the upper body.
Authorities said they are still trying to figure out just why Hanna was killed.
The victim’s mother, Althea Hanna, described the relationship with her son as strained. She said it has been that way for a while. Ms. Hanna, who spoke with the media just yards away from where her son’s body lay, said the last time she saw her son was about two days ago.
She admitted, though, that her son was “mixed up with the wrong crowd” and said that because of that, she prayed for him every day.
