Three men were arrested in Grand Bahama on Sunday, after they were caught in the act of shop-breaking and stealing, according to police on that island.
Police said the alleged thieves broke into a business establishment on Settlers Way, shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday.
Officers were alerted to the break-in when an alarm was activated at the establishment. Once officers arrived on the scene, they observed items being tossed from the establishment and a male exiting.
Officers demanded that the man stop, however he did not, but instead motioned an object in the direction of the officers.
The police then shot at the suspect, hitting him in the upper thigh. He was subsequently transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The other two male suspects, according to police, were arrested.
Meantime, police in Grand Bahama are also looking for a suspect alleged to have committed an armed robbery of a Downtown business.
Reports said on Saturday, shortly after 4 p.m., a lone gunman entered a business establishment in the Downtown area brandishing a firearm and demanded cash not related to the business.
He fled the area on foot.
Police are active investigating both matters.
