Three men were killed in separate shootings over the weekend, police have confirmed.
In the most incident, on Sunday a man was walking to his vehicle from a nightclub located on Apple and Peach Streets, when a man armed with a handgun shot him several times before fleeing on foot.
The victim was transported to a hospital in serious condition where he later died.
On Saturday, shortly after 8:30 a.m. a man and a woman were at Hillside Park off Mackey Street, when three men armed with handguns robbed them of cash and shot the male twice in his back before fleeing on foot.
The victim was transported to a hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
Earlier on Saturday, a man was shot in his home on Meadow Street after two suspects stormed into the victim’s house armed with hand guns.
Officers were alerted to the incident shortly after 5: 30 a.m.
“A male and female were asleep in bed when two men forced their way into the residence and they shot the male in the head,” Police Press Liaison Officer Superintendent Stephen Dean said.
“Police are actively investigating this matter, we have no motive for this matter but we believe that we should bring this to a successful conclusion.”
Officer in Charge of the South Eastern Division Superintendent Clayton Fernander was also on the scene assuring residents that their safety remains a top priority as they watched in horror from behind the yellow crime scene tape
“We want to appeal to members of the public who would have been in this area around that time who have any information that can assist in bringing closure to this matter,” he said.
“We want to assure members of the community in this area that the police is in the community, we have consistent patrols in this area on a 24 hour basis so you will see us up an about, we are here to serve the members of the public and to make sure that they are safe.”
In an earlier incident, two men arrived at the Princess Margaret Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds
According to reports, the men arrived at the hospital shortly after 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
One of the wounded men died from his injuries a short time later.
At last report, the other man was listed in serious condition.
According to Superintendent Dean, at this stage in the investigation, officers are trying to find out the details behind the incident and where it happened.
