Two Bahamian pilots and a Canadian man are expected to appear in court sometime this week after being busted at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) Monday evening in connection with a huge drug seizure.
Acting on intelligence, officers from both the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and the United States’ Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) headed to LPIA’s Executive Flight Support section around 8:00 p.m. where they reportedly conducted a search of a Hawker jet that had just arrived to The Bahamas from Montreal, Canada.
Authorities said during the search, the officers found four suitcases containing 149 pounds of marijuana, 17.4 pounds of ecstasy pills and 2.6 pounds of hashish oil.
The three suspects, ages 48, 37 and 23, were all taken into custody.
Investigations are ongoing into the matter.
