An 18-year-old man was arraigned in a Magistrates’ Court yesterday in connection with a murder that took place last week.
Alexander Pierre is accused of the August 8 murder of 29-year-old Raymon Thompson.
The Wellington Street resident was gunned down in front of a house near Coconut Grove Avenue.
Pierre allegedly opened fire, hitting Thompson multiple times.
He died on the scene.
Pierre, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez, was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge.
Outside the court complex yesterday, relatives of Pierre became emotional as the Marshall Road resident was escorted from the complex.
Many of them sobbed as the man – chained at both the wrists and ankles – left court.
“Stay strong, I love you,” said a woman identifying herself as the suspect’s aunt.
Thompson’s death marked the country’s 77th murder for the year.
Pierre was remanded to prison until December 4 when his case is expected to proceed via a voluntary bill of indictment.
