The Bahamas Striping Company conducted free striping services for the Ranfurly Home for Children as part of the company’s community initiative to reach out to 10 non-profit charitable organisations.
The Bahama Journal met employees hard at work striping the home’s parking lot and basketball court yesterday.
According to the company’s President Atario Mitchell, a total of six charities have received free services so far including the Cancer Society and Salvation Army among others.
He added that his company remains committed to giving back to the community.
“We just don’t want to be a company that takes from the community, from day one we’ve always been a company that has given back to the community,” he said.
“I just want my company to be an example of what other corporate citizens can follow, we believe in giving back because it’s only through giving back that we can truly help our community.”
He added that his company also seeks to provide troubled young men with job opportunities to better their lives.
“One of the other things that I have instilled in my company is the second chance, coming from a troubled background myself I wanted to pretty much be a role model for guys my age, so a lot of the guys I hire are pretty much my age who don’t really have a career or goal that their working towards, being the person that I am, being afforded with this opportunity with Bahamas Striping and having a successful journey I just wanted to shed light with the young guys that they too can do the same thing.”
Ranfurly Home’s Administrator Alexander Roberts said the home is always grateful when corporate entities and citizens with a social conscience make donations to the home given the institution’s continuous need for assistance.
“It’s a slow period at this present time but the community has been sensitized to the needs of the Ranfurly Home and the plight of the children that we serve as do all the other homes, so we’re beginning to see an upswing in donations,” he said.
“Ranfurly, being an independent home, we depend heavily on the public for our very existence.”
