AML Foods Limited officially broke ground for their Solomon’s Yamacraw store opposite St. Andrew’s School on Yamacraw Hill Road yesterday.
In his remarks, Chairman of AML Foods Limited Dionisio D’Aguilar stated the new exciting venture will represent the eighth store in The Bahamas and the fifth store in Nassau.
“This location is an ideal site, large enough and convenient enough to provide our customers with a modern, fresh, state of the art alternative for their food shopping needs” Mr. D’Aguilar said.
The Solomon’s branded store slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2017 will be a 38,000 square foot retail store that will sit on five acres of land.
“This store will represent an investment by AML Foods of a whopping $14 million and we are confident that it will act as the anchor, the catalyst for considerable further investments that is being planned for the remaining 100 acres of land”. Mr. D’Aguilar said.
Solomon’s Yamacraw location will serve as the anchor property adjacent to a proposed commercial shopping complex.
In a press release, President and CEO at AML Foods Limited Gavin Watchorn said that the store will be a blend of the current Solomon’s retail outlets and be tailored to what research showed is needed in the eastern end of the island.
He also said that while the building will be new customers can still look forward to the same level of service, quality products and great value that they are known for.
AML Foods Limited boasts of employing some 900 workers across its chain of stores and will add another 75 new jobs to its staff once the venture is completed.
The company also plans to add a Carl’s Jr. restaurant near the new development.
Breaking ground were Mr. D’Aguilar; Mr. Watchorn; Executive Vice President Steve Smollet; Vice President of Facilities Richard Jones; Board Member Frank Crother, and the general contractor K. Gibson.
