A 28-year-old woman has turned herself into authorities in connection with a stabbing incident that left an 18-year-old man dead early yesterday morning, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred just before 1:00 a.m. on Miami Street.
The woman alleges the man attempted to rob her.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the man’s lifeless body with a stab wound.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigations into this incident are ongoing.
Meanwhile, officers on Cat Island have arrested a rape suspect.
According to reports, shortly after noon Monday, officers from the Cat Island district acting on intelligence arrested a 46 – year old man of Orange Creek for questioning in reference to this incident.
No further details are known at this point but investigations into the incident continue.
Quick action by police led to the apprehension of one of two suspects shortly after they allegedly held two people at gunpoint and robbed them.
Just before midnight Monday, a man and a woman were sitting in a car at Dicks Point off the Eastern Road, when two men armed with a handgun robbed them of their vehicle and sped off.
Police were immediately alerted and a short while later, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit on patrol spotted the vehicle on Marathon Road.
The officers ordered the occupants of the vehicle to stop but they refused and sped off. A chase ensued resulting in the vehicle crashing at Robinson Road, where two men jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
After a short foot chase the officers were able to arrest one of the men, who is a 29 – year old of Johnson Road. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a shotgun.
Investigations are continuing into this incident.
