Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 41-year-old man found hanging from the ceiling of his Fire Trail Road apartment Friday evening.

The victim, Defence Force officer, Chinyere Wilkinson, was discovered by a family member, according to authorities.

In a statement Saturday afternoon, Defence Commodore Roderick Bowe extended sincerest condolences to Wilkinson’s family, loved ones and friends.

“Leading Mechanic Wilkinson was a quiet, competent and committed marine who enlisted in the Defence Force as a member of new entry 32 and woman entry 6 in April 1997,” the statement read.

Wilkinson served in numerous departments including engineering, harbor patrol unit and recently the supply department.

Investigations are ongoing.
