The mission was simple: Help Marine Seaman Michael Fox pull off an elaborate marriage proposal at LPIA for his unsuspecting girlfriend, Alexandra Kaufmann.
A member of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the young marine wanted the proposal executed in style and with military precision. He called on the Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) to assist in the mission dubbed Operation Love.
Both Alexandra, an entrepreneur and her mother were scheduled to arrive at LPIA via JetBlue Flight# 1793 out of Fort Lauderdale at approximately 18:00 HRS.
Immediately, NAD Scheduler Monique Edgecombe began tracking the flight from take-off to landing.
She called the team stationed in the terminal to notify that the “eagle” had landed. Concierge Elizabeth Ferguson sprung into action, scoping out the terminal and quickly indentifying our target.
Just outside Bahamas Customs, Marine Seaman Fox stood anxiously awaiting the signal to get down on one knee but he was not alone. In fact, when Alexandra exited the Customs Hall, she met her boyfriend of five years, his father, his boss and her stepfather all on bended knees.
A crowd of fellow passengers, tour operators, taxi drivers and other airport employees looked on as Fox popped the question.
Alexandra whispered “yes” and hugged her fiancé.
The restless crowd could not hear the answer. Finally, she shouted in response to the chatter, “I said YES!”
Operation Love was a complete success.
