A correctional officer has found himself on the wrong side of the law and could soon be trading in his uniform for an inmate’s suit after being arrested Wednesday for drug possession.
Police arrested the 51-year-old officer shortly after he reported for duty. The officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) executed a search of the officer and found him to be in possession of a quantity of dangerous drugs, according to police reports.
Officers also seized more than $700 from the officer which they believe are the proceeds of crime.
The officer who was subsequently arrested and taken into custody will appear in court today where he is expected to be formally charged with possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.
